About Me
Writing has always helped me process the world around me. In elementary school, it was cutesy poems about rain and family vacations. In high school, it evolved into angsty teen musings about relationships (or lack thereof), mental health, and my future.
As a transracial adoptee raised in a small, Pennsylvanian town, identity was always a central theme in my writing — even before I really even knew what it meant to be Korean. My identity as one of the only Asians in my school, as a daughter, and as an adoptee was a consistent question I tried to answer through my poetry.
I lost track of writing for a while until I watched a documentary my senior year of college that sparked a poem unlike anything I had written before – a spoken word piece based in rhyming rhythms, meant to be heard instead of just read. It was the beginning of writing responsive, spoken word poetry that both asked hard questions about life, identity, and God and attempted to answer them.
Since that inaugural spark, I’ve loved writing alongside conferences and retreats, as well as in response to current events - and performing them for audiences who also shared in those experiences.
I currently reside in Baltimore with my husband and 3 children. When I’m not spending time with them, writing, or working as the Director of Programming and Communications for a local church - I love watching any Mike Schur show, wandering the aisles of Costco, and meeting friends for brunch. I’m an ENFJ 7w8 and will dive headfirst into any conversation dissecting personality types. To get through my days, I rely on my paper planner, sour candy, and the steadfastness of God.
