Poet and Spoken Word Artist Who Helps Communities See and Feel Seen

I write responsive, in-the-moment pieces that process a shared event whether that is a conference, a sermon, or an act of injustice experienced across a community.

While I considered myself a writer and poet from a young age, it was a documentary that I watched in college that sparked a new form of expression in me — a spoken word piece based in rhyming rhythms, meant to be heard instead of just read. It was the beginning of creating reflective, spoken-word poetry that helped me process the world we’re in.

I’d love to work with you to offer a unique approach for your audience to reflect, connect, and be stirred to action!

Why Work With Kaylyn

“Kaylyn has a gift for listening - to the current moment, to other voices in the room, and to her own soul - and then creating beautiful pieces that reflect all of these. Her work and her presence is a gift to any event or conference. I've loved working with her and would joyfully do so again.”

— Kathy Welsh Smith, Associate Director of Discipleship, Central Presbyterian Church

“Kaylyn is a spoken word prophet for this generation. A poet and preacher with prophetic sensibilities, Kaylyn brilliantly leverages the art of spoken word to challenge, inspire, and provoke people to grow deeper in their faith and step boldly into mission.”

— Galen Zook, Pastor, Hampden United Methodist Church

“Kaylyn Brown is a gifted writer who crafts her work with sincerity, strength, wisdom, and compassion. Her writings move at a lively pace and embody profound thoughts that move the soul. She is a skilled observer who can analyze a moment and immediately craft a powerful and profound poem.”

— George Hopkins, Pastor, Sowebo Community Church
